On January 27, 2025, at approximately 8:00 AM, a passenger vehicle (white Nissan Caravan) traveling from Magway to Pakokku, driven by U Than Myint Oo, was involved in an accident near the mileposts 371/2 and 371/3,  Gway Pin Village, Chauk Township, Magway Region. The accident occurred as the driver dozed and lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into a mezali tree on the roadside. According to the report, firefighters from Chauk Township Fire Station and Gway Pin Fire Station were dispatched  two fire fighting vehicles to carry out a rescue operation, which was completed by 9:45 AM. Due to the accident, a total of eight people, including the driver, a man was dead and 7 people were injured and transported to Yenangyaung General Hospital by Parami Social Welfare Association and Ywathit Ward Social Welfare Association ambulances. The driver, U Than Myint Oo has been charged under Sections 337 and 338 of the Penal Code with case number (Pa) 1/2025 by the Gway Pin local Police Station.
