On November 23, 2024, at approximately 10:17 AM, a fire occurred at the “KK-Naing” gas and gas related accessories shop,  (20x35) feet building located on Yamonar Road, 3/Manpyay Ward, Thaketa Township, Yangon Region. The incident happened while gas was being transferred from a large cylinder to a smaller one, and the large cylinder was not securely closed afterward. During this time, gas spread throughout the room, and a fire ignited when the cylinder head was being cleaned with a motor (with a belt mechanism), causing sparks. Firefighters and auxiliary fire brigade members from  Yangon Region Fire Stations responded with two administration vehicles, 12 fire engines, 10 water bowsers, and one support vehicle. They successfully extinguished the fire by 11:20 AM. The fire damaged two (20x35) feet buildings, as well as the upper floors of four (10x35) feet buildings, which equipment and materials inside were also destroyed. One man sustained minor injuries and was transported to Yangon General Hospital by the Red Cross Association. Legal action has been taken against the gas shop employee, Zin Ko Aung (alias Shwe Min), under Penal Code Section 285, with the case registered as (P)544/2024 at Thaketa Township Police Station.
