On November 20, 2024, at approximately 3:40 PM, a fire occurred on the upper floor of the “Big Boss” grocery store, (50x30) feet a two-story ,RC building owned by U Aye Win, located on Kannar Road, Anawya Ward, Kawthaung Township, Tanintharyi Region. The fire started from overheating while charging a battery box with an inverter. Firefighters and auxiliary fire brigade members from Kawthaung District/Township Fire Stations, in collaboration with relevant organizations, responded with one fire engine, five water bowsers, and two ambulances. The fire was extinguished by 4:10 PM. The fire damaged the upper floor of the building, general goods, one inverter, and one battery box. Legal action has been taken against the owner, U Aye Win, under Penal Code Section 285, with the case registered as (P)181/2024 at Kawthaung Township Police Station.
