On October 23, 2024, at around 7:25 a.m., a fire broke out at a shop named “Sugar Mommy Tea” located at No. (34x35), 68th Street, Patkone Pyawbwe Ward, Chanayethazan Township, Mandalay Region. The shop, owned by Daw Nan Mwe Nwam, was a two-story building measuring (15x40) feet with a zinc roof, masonry walls, and wooden flooring. The fire reportedly started when an electric kettle powered by solar electricity overheated, igniting a wooden table. Firefighters from the Chanayethazan Township Fire Station, including auxiliary firefighters, responded with two administrative vehicles, five fire engines, and two water tankers. The fire was extinguished by 7:41 a.m. The incident resulted in the damage of the upper floor of the shop. Legal action was taken against the owner, Daw Nan Mwe Nwam, at Chanayethazan Township Police Station No. 3 under Case No. (Pa) 190/2024, in accordance with Section 285 of the Penal Code.
