On October 22, 2024, at around 6:00 a.m., a fire broke out at a two-story masonry building measuring (50x60) feet located at No. 834, Dhana Thiddi Road, Ward 8, Mayangone Township, Yangon Region. The building, owned by U Maung Maung Myint, housed a paper cup manufacturing business. The fire reportedly started due to a malfunction in an electric iron, which caused sparks to ignite paper scraps on the floor, leading to the spread of the fire.Firefighters, including auxiliary personnel from various fire stations within Yangon Region, responded with four administrative vehicles, 23 fire engines, and 11 water tankers. The fire was extinguished by 6:35 a.m. The fire damaged the entire two-story masonry building, four paper cup production machines, two power meters, one household meter, five air conditioning indoor units, and paper scraps. Legal action was taken against the owner, U Maung Maung Myint, at Mayangone Township Police Station under Case No. (Pa) 220/2024, in accordance with Section 285 of the Penal Code.
