On August 29, 2024, at approximately 6:45 AM, a traffic accident occurred at Milepost (97/3) on the Yangon-Naypyidaw Expressway in Kyauk Tan Khar Township, Bago Region. A blue YUTONG EFE passenger bus, driven by U Kyaw Thet and traveling from Naypyidaw to Yangon. The driver lost control of its speed, crossed the median strip, and tilted into the opposite lane. Due to the accidnt, it collided with a gray TOYOTA BELTA traveling from Yangon to Naypyidaw. According to the report, SAR members from Myochan Expressway Fire Station, in collaboration with relevant authorities, responded with one fire engine to conduct search and rescue operations, which were completed by 9:00 AM. As a result of the accident, 9 people were injured and the injured individuals were transported to Myochang Township Hospital by the ambulance for medical treatment. The driver of the EFE bus, U Kyaw Thet, was found to have been driving recklessly and has been charged under Case No. (Ya) 6/2024 at Myochang Expressway Police Station under Sections 338/337 of the Penal Code.
