On July 31, 2024, at approximately 9:42 AM, a fire broke out at a cosmetics storage warehouse located at the corner of Industrial Zone Road and Pathein Road, in Industrial Zone (1), Ward (23), Dagon Myothit (South) Township, Yangon Region. The warehouse that owned by U Zaw Min Aye, was a single-story steel structure building (60x120 feet) with a mezzanine floor. The fire was caused by an overheated security light, which fell and ignited a pile of plastic packaging materials below. According to the report, firefighters from Yangon Region Fire Station along with auxiliary firefighters, responded to the incident with 1 command vehicle, 1 support vehicle, 11 fire engines, and 8 water bowsers. The fire was successfully extinguished at 10:29 AM. Due to the fire, the entire 60x120-foot steel structure warehouse and stored cosmetic products were damaged. The warehouse security guard, U Win Myint, has been charged under Section 285 of the Penal Code under case number (Pa) 763/2024 by the Dagon Myothit (South) Township Police Station.
