The Fire Services Department, in accordance with the motto “Protecting the Nation from Fire Hazards,” is continuously striving to carry out fire safety activities, including fire prevention, fire protection, firefighting, and emergency rescue operations. As preventive measures are the most effective form of fire safety, the department follows the fire safety slogan “Today’s Fire Prevention is Tomorrow’s Fire Safety” and applies it to three-story or taller residential buildings, multi-family dwellings, markets, public-use buildings, hotels, motels, lodging facilities, social and economic buildings, factories, workplaces, storage buildings, reservoirs, and other industrial and commercial buildings prone to fire hazards. This also includes motor vehicles, trains, airplanes, helicopters, ships, and other transportation infrastructure. To ensure fire safety, the Fire Services Department issues Fire Safety Certificates (FSC) in accordance with the Myanmar Fire Services Law of 2015, Article 17, and Rule 68, before relevant government agencies grant permissions. Buildings seeking these certificates must install and use fire safety systems and emergency evacuation systems that comply with the Myanmar Fire Safety Code 2020. The Fire Services Department provides open and transparent information and allows the owners or managers of these social and economic buildings to consult and install safety systems freely. The department also issues recognized certificates to companies providing fire safety equipment and installation services as detailed below.
