On July 8, 2024, at approximately 8:00 AM, rising water levels in the Chindwin River and Myittha River flooding occurred in low-lying areas of Kalewa Town, Kale District, Sagaing Region. The affected areas included Ward No. 1, Ward No. 2, Kaing Kyae Village, Ton Nann Village, and Ma Sein Village, where floodwaters entered residential homes. Upon receiving the report, SAR members from the Kalewa Township Fire Station responded with one fire engine to assist in the evacuation process. The operation was completed by 10:30 AM. Due to the flooding, 145 residents were transferred to the safe zone. No injuries or casualties were reported during the evacuation.
