On May 23, 2024, at around 2:08 AM, a fire broke out at the "Variety Sweets Shop," a 20x60 feet building with a galvanized iron roof and walls, and a concrete floor, owned by U Kyaw Lint Htun, located on Min Ye Kyawswa Road, Ward No. 125, Dagon Myothit (East) Township, Yangon Region. The fire was caused by overheating of a Safe Guard freezer. Upon receiving the report, firefighters from various fire stations in Yangon Region, including auxiliary fire brigade members, responded with one administrative vehicle, ten fire trucks, seven water bowsers, and one support vehicle. The fire was extinguished by 2:47 AM. The fire resulted in the total loss of the 20x60 feet "Variety Sweets Shop" building and its contents, a 15x60 feet "Grocery Shop" building and its goods, a 15x60 feet "Agricultural Supplies Shop" building and its supplies, a 10x60 feet building, and a 15x60 feet "Textile Shop" building. U Kyaw Lint Htun, the owner, has been charged under Section 285 of the Penal Code with case number (P) 260/2024 at Dagon Myothit (East) Township Police Station.
