At approximately 7:47 a.m. on 6 July 2026, a fire broke out in an old two-storey warehouse, measuring 30 ft × 20 ft, owned by U. Nyi Nyi Lwin, located at the corner of 67th Street and 101(A) Street, Myothit Ward No. (1), Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay Region. The warehouse was not being used for storage at the time of the incident. The fire was caused by overheating of the main electrical distribution board, which ignited the structure. Upon receiving the report, firefighters and auxiliary firefighters from the Mandalay Region Fire Services Department Headquarters responded to the scene with two command vehicles, five fire engines, and three water bowsers. Firefighting operations were carried out, and the fire was successfully extinguished at approximately 8:05 a.m. As a result of the fire, the upper floor of the 30 ft × 20 ft two-storey warehouse was damaged by fire. One male and one female sustained minor (non-life-threatening) injuries and were transported to Mandalay General Hospital by a vehicle from the Chanmya Thitsa Social Assistance Association. It is further reported that U Kyaw Min Tun (43 years old), the warehouse caretaker, has been charged by the Chanmyathazi Township Police Station under Case No. 103/2026, pursuant to Section 285 of the Penal Code, and legal proceedings have been initiated.
