On June 11, 2026, at approximately 7:40 AM, a traffic accident occurred on the Old Yangon-Mandalay Road in front of the 10-Mile Kone Sub-Middle School in 10-Mile Kone Village, Intakaw Town, Bago Township, Bago Region. A white MITSUBISHI CANTER 6-wheeled truck, driven by 24-year-old U Thet Wai Phyo, lost control and rear-ended a blue NISSAN 22-wheeled articulated truck traveling from Yangon to Bago, driven by U Kyaw Min Oo (42). The impact left the driver of the 6-wheeled truck trapped inside the crushed cabin.Upon receiving the report, firefighters from the Bago Township Fire Station, in collaboration with local volunteer rescue groups, deployed one fire engine to conduct search and rescue operations. The operation was successfully completed at 8:23 AM.Due to the accident, the front cabin of the white MITSUBISHI CANTER 6-wheeled truck was severely crushed. Two men, the driver and a passenger on board the 6-wheeled truck, sustained fatal injuries. Their bodies were transported to the Bago Township General Hospital by vehicles from the Oussar Youth Volunteer Association and the Myitta Shwe Sin Volunteer Association. The Intakaw Local Police Station has filed a case against the deceased driver, U Thet Wai Phyo (24), son of U Soe Moe, under Traffic Case No. (Pa) 8/2026 of Section 304-A of the Penal Code.
