On May 5, 2026, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a fire broke out at a two-story residential house located on Aung Mingalar Street, Thae Kone Ward, Kyauktaga Township, Bago Region. The house, owned by U Khin Maung Soe (69 years old). The fire is reported to have started due to overheating of electrical wiring, which produced sparks and ignited nearby wooden materials, causing the fire to spread. According to the report, firefighters from Kyauktaga Fire Station and auxiliary fire brigade members responded with four fire engines and two water tankers. The fire was successfully extinguished at around 4:45 a.m. Due to the fire, one (40 x 30) feet two-story house and one (20 x 30) feet two-story house, both with corrugated iron roofs, wooden walls, and wooden flooring, were completely destroyed, totaling two houses. It is also reported that legal action has been taken against the owner, U Khin Maung Soe (69 years old), by Kyauktaga Myoma Police Station under Case No. (Pa) 71/2026, in accordance with Section 285 of the Penal Code.
