On May 5, 2026, at approximately 7:40 a.m., a fire broke out at a two-story residential house located on Yay Phyu Street, Ward No. (10), Shwepyithar Township, Yangon Region. The house, owned by Daw Khin Saw Than (42 years old). The fire is reported to have started due to overheating of a computer system unit used together with a gaming device, which produced sparks and ignited a nearby bed, causing the fire to spread. According to the report, firefighters from Yangon Region fire stations, along with auxiliary fire members responded with nine fire engines and seven water bowsers. The fire was successfully extinguished at around 8:05 a.m. Due to the fire, one (20 x 60) feet two-story house and two (10 x 10) feet two-story houses were completely destroyed. It is also reported that legal action has been taken against the owner, Daw Khin Saw Than (42 years old), by Shwepyithar Myoma Police Station under Case No. (Pa) 163/2026, in accordance with Section 285 of the Penal Code.
