On May 9, 2025, at approximately 3:49 PM, a report was received that a man had gone missing due to drowning in the Mandalay Canal near Ye Htwet Village in Pyin Oo Lwin Township, Mandalay Region. The incident occurred after the man, who was under the influence of alcohol, attempted to swim in the canal. According to the report, firefighters and auxiliary fire personnel from the Pyin Oo Lwin Township Fire Station, in collaboration with members of the Shwe Kyei Si Volunteer Association, conducted a search and rescue operation by using one fire engine. At around 4:08 PM, the body of the deceased man was recovered. He was then transported to Mandalay General Hospital by an ambulance from the Shwe Kyei Si Volunteer Association.
