On May 6, 2025, at approximately 12:45 a.m., a fire broke out in Shwe Lin Ban Village, Shwe Nhin Si Street, Hlaing Thar Yar (East) Township, Yangon Region. The fire started in a one-story house owned by U Nwe Win, measuring 20 by 60 feet. It was reportedly caused by leftover embers from a wood stove used for boiling beans, which ignited nearby bamboo walls. According to the report, firefighters from Hlaing Thar Yar Township Fire Station cooperative with auxiliary firefighters extinguished the fire with one command vehicle, seven fire engines, and six water bowser. The fire was brought under control by 1:14 a.m. Due to the fire a total of six houses were destroyed.  Legal action has been taken against the homeowner, U Nwe Win, by the Hlaing Thar Yar (East) Myoma Police Station under Section 285 of the Penal Code, referenced as case number (P)339/2025.
