On March 28, 2025, at approximately 12:51 p.m., a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale struck with its epicenter located about 20 kilometers northeast of Mandalay City, and approximately 21 kilometers northeast of the Mandalay Seismic Station. The coordinates of the epicenter were 22.09 degrees North latitude and 96.23 degrees East longitude, at a depth of 10 kilometers .As a result, search and rescue members from the Fire Services Department have been conducting relief and recovery operations in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, where damage and losses have been reported due to the earthquake.
