On April 12, 2025, at around 7:20 a m, a fire broke out in a two-story residence located on Sanpya (1) Street, Zone (14), Shwe Taung Ward, Taunggyi Township, Shan State. The house owned by Daw Hla Yee. The fire originated in a 12x12-foot bedroom rented by U Maung Kyine, where a lit candle had fallen over and ignited nearby bedding. Upon receiving the report, firefighters from the Shan State Fire Services Department and the Taunggyi Township Fire Station, including auxiliary fire brigade members, responded with one command vehicle, four fire engines, and one water bowser. The fire was extinguished at 7:40 a m. Due to the fire, the upper floor of the two-story house was completely destroyed. U Maung Kyine, the tenant, is being prosecuted by the Taunggyi Township Main Police Station under Penal Code Section 285, case number (P)106/2025.
