On March 28, 2025, at approximately 12:51 PM, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale occurred about 21 kilometers to the northeast of the Mandalay Earthquake Station. The earthquake's epicenter was located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Mandalay city at latitude 22.09 degrees North and longitude 96.23 degrees East, with a depth of 10 kilometers. As a result, SAR membes from the Fire Services Department  are conducting emergency search and rescue operations in Mandalay Region and Sagaing Region, where damage and casualties have been reported due to the earthquake.
