On 30 July 2026, at about 10:42 p.m. a section of the Ngyawngwan River embankment at Milepost 25/3 in Laymyethna Township, Hinthada District, Ayeyarwady Region, was lowered due to water seepage and flow through a sand layer formed by an old river channel beneath the embankment. As a result, floodwater entered Aung Mingalar Market in Laymyethna Township. At approximately 9:00 a.m. on 29 September 2026, firefighters from the Ayeyarwady Region Fire Services Department and the Laymyethna Township Fire Station, in cooperation with the relevant organizations, carried out clearance operations to remove silt and sediment deposited after the floodwaters receded, as well as measures to improve drainage and ensure proper water flow around the market area.
