On 30 July 2026, at approximately 10:42 p.m. due to heavy rainfall in Thakhut Chaung Village Tract, Laymyethnar Township, Hinthada District, Ayeyarwady Region caused the Ngawun River to rise significantly. As a result, an approximately 50-foot section of the embankment retaining the Ngawun River, which is 18 feet in height, breached, posing a flooding threat to nearby villages and wards. Under the leadership of U Aung Swe Win, Director of the Ayeyarwady Region Fire Services Department, search and rescue personnel and reserve firefighters from the Hinthada District and Laymyethnar Township Fire Stations, together with fire stations from Ingapu, Myanaung, Kyangin, and Zalun Townships, coordinated with relevant organizations to evacuate residents from flood-affected areas to safe locations. On 2 August 2026 at about 7:00 a.m, a1,624 households of Aithabyu Village,  1,619 houses, 6,664 people of Letkayin Village, 383 households, 375 houses, 1,231 people of Laydi Su/Kayin Yoe Village,  10 households, 10 houses, 46 people of Theinkone, Nyaung Wine, Kyatkone and Khapaungkwin Villages, 466 households, 462 houses, 1,848 people of Kyun Oo Village,  32 households, 32 houses, 163 people of Hteinngu, Yelel, Hngetpyawtaw, Kantlantkone and Gwaydauk Kone Villages,  236 households, 222 houses, 886 people of Setkone, Layein Tan and Aung Baw Su Villages,  140 households, 140 houses, 432 people of Thaung Su, Oot Ai and Bo Yone Su Villages,  161 households, 155 houses, 705 people. In total, residents from 20 villages, comprising 3,052 households, 3,015 houses, and 11,975 people, were successfully evacuated to safe locations. Search, rescue, and humanitarian assistance operations remain ongoing.
