On May 12, 2026, at approximately 00:15 AM, a fire broke out at the "UK Electrical Appliances" shop located on Anawrahta Road, Ward (11), Hlaing Tharyar (West) Township, Yangon Region. This shop was owned by U Chit San Maung, aged 43. The fire started from a rechargeable light bulb that had been left charging while no one was present on the premises. According to the report, firefighters from the Hlaing Tharyar Township Fire Station and auxiliary fire members responded to the scene with one administrative vehicle, five fire engines, one water bowser, and one support vehicle. The fire was completely extinguished by 00:42 AM. Due to the fire, a shop structure damaged and  a small quantity of electrical appliances were lost. Consequently, the shop owner, U Chit San Maung, is facing legal action. He has been charged under Section 285 of the Penal Code at the Thaunggyi Local Police Station in Hlaing Tharyar (West) under case file (Pa) 385/2026.
