On 7 February 2026, at about 12:43 PM, a fire broke out in a (40×60 ft) two-storey house with a corrugated iron roof and wooden walls owned by Daw Tin Nu Ri (60) in Aye Ywar Ward, Myint Tan Ward, Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region. The fire started when a mobile phone being charged on a mattress overheated, the battery exploded, and sparks fell onto the mattress, igniting the fire. Firefighters from Mandalay Region Fire Stations, including auxiliary fire members, responded with 2 command vehicles, 25 fire engines, and 15 water bowsers. The fire was extinguished at 1:15 PM. As a Due to the fire, a total of 18 houses of various sizes and structures were destroyed, along with household belongings and 3 motorcycles. It is also reported that Daw Ni Ni Aung (39), the owner’s daughter, has been charged by the Amarapura Myoma Police Station under Case No. (Pa) 30/2026, Section 285 of the Penal Code.
