On 3 February 2026, at approximately 10:29 a.m., a fire broke out in Lathar Kone Village, Tagu Village Tract, Taikkyi Township, Yangon Region that owned by Daw Way Way Phyu (34 years old). The incident occurred in a (12 × 12)-foot room on the upper floor of the two-storey RC building with a corrugated iron roof, measuring (35 × 90) feet, known as “Cheer Restaurant.” The fire was caused by a faulty electrical wire that overheated and produced sparks, which fell onto a sofa below, resulting in the spread of fire. According to the report, firefighters and auxiliary firefighters from Taikkyi Township Fire Station responded with five fire engines and five water bowsers and carried out firefighting operations. The fire was successfully extinguished at 10:59 a.m. Due to the fire, a sofa set, an air conditioner, wall-mounted foam panels, Light bulbs and electrical wiring, two speakers, a 32-inch television, partial damage to the ceiling. It is reported that U Thant Zin Lin (22 years old), an employee of the restaurant, has been charged by Taikkyi Town Police Station under Case No. (P) 16/2026, Section 285 of the Penal Code, and legal action has been taken.
