On 1 September 2025, at around 6:42 a m, in Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region, at U Zarny’s “7 Star” teashop located at Uyyantoe Village, Sittaung Myitnge Junction, a NISSAN DIESEL fuel tanker (registration MDY-2/TRL-6709) driven by driver Soe Thu en route from Yangon to Monywa, carrying 9,459 gallons of diesel and premium diesel, swerved to avoid a motorcycle. The vehicle skidded, crashed into the compound gate of the teashop, and then the tanker burst, colliding with a fryer inside the shop, which ignited a fire outbreak. According to the report, firefighters from Head of the Mandalay Region Fire Services Department,  Amarapura Township Fire Station,  Myitnge Local Fire Station, including auxiliary firefighters and reserve firefighters, responded with 3 administrative vehicles, 6 fire engines, and 5 water bowsers. The fire was successfully extinguished at 7:24 a.m. Due to the fire, U Tin Htun Oo (57), a customer at the teashop, Ma The Su Mon (37), a teashop staff member were dead and 3 men and 3 women were injured and  transported to Mandalay General Hospital by ambulances from Taw-Metta Social Assistance Organization and San-Pya Metta Social Assistance Organization. Due to the fire, a teashop and its contents, a NISSAN DIESEL fuel tanker (MDY-2/TRL-6709) were damaged. The driver Soe Thu (29) has been charged at Myitnge Police Station, Amarapura Township, under case number (Pa) 126/2025, in accordance with Sections 337/338/304(a)/285 of the Penal Code.
