On 26 August 2025, at about 2:40 AM, a fire broke out at the residence owned by Daw Htu Saing, located in Aye Mya Thaya Ward, Block (14), Myitkyina Town, Myitkyina District, Kachin State. This house was rented by U Kyaw Swar Min, where foodstuffs were being stored. The cause of the fire was due to overheating of an electric socket, which ignited nearby instant noodle cartons. In response, firefighters and auxiliary firefighters from the Kachin State Fire Services Department and Myitkyina Township Fire Station arrived with one fire truck and three waterbowsers to extinguish the fire. The fire was brought under control by about 3:20 AM. As a result of the fire, U Kyaw Swar Min (aged 56, tenant) died in the fire. His body was transported to Myitkyina Public Hospital by the Myosetthit Social Aid Association. The entire 30x30 ft, zinc-roof, brick house and stored foodstuffs were destroyed. It was reported that the case regarding the death of U Kyaw Swar Min (56) has been registered at the Myitkyina Township Police Station as Case No. (Pa)163/2025 under Section 285 of the Penal Code.
